How unoriginal. A goal for the new year. And yes, we're in February now, it's a little late to be talking about new years resolutions. But hey, I've been keeping up with mine, so YAY! At the last minute I had decided to commit to a daily doodle throughout the entire year of 2014. I got a few sketchbooks and have been rolling steadily for about a month now. Making the drawings isn't as difficult as I though. It's a good way to remind myself that drawing regularly is helpful and necessary, even though I already have that creative job. It's been a place where I can brainstorm, or flesh out an idea. Or just a place to relax and let my mind wander somewhere far away from more pressing problems.
Technically, my challenge only demands that I put a sketch in the physical sketchbook every day. I make the rules, and I'm gonna make them realistic. Early on I decided to not promise to upload drawings daily simply because that would make this much more stressful than it should be. And this is not meant to be stressful in the first place. This is supposed to improve my life, not impede. In the end, I do want all 365 drawings online at my website
, and perhaps in other locations. Instagram has been awesome, as well as Tumblr. And yes, Deviant Art too. I know I've fallen behind on my updates here, which is silly. This is the perfect venue to share art.
I suppose that's the price we pay for having so many social media options in life. The only thing to do is keep chugging along. Keep doodling. Every day.
